Book Review

Yo yo people, don't some of you people wonder what is going through in your dogs' minds? and why they behave the way they behave? Well, here's a book that I'm going to recommend. The title is "What is my dog thinking?".

We always want our dogs to "learn" our langauge so that they will obey our commands and follow our rules, well guys, it's time we take the view point from our dogs. This book that I'm talking about will cover 6 aspects of dog behaviour, mainly the dog social behaviour, life in a hierarchy, food and fitness, reproduction, staying safe and dogs and people.

This book is written by Gwen Bailey, Head of Animal Behaviour for The Blue Cross, one of the foremost animal welfare charities and is a member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors. From this book you'll know things like why some dogs like to chase their tails, bury their toys, why your dog can pee so many times in one single walk... you'll understand some of the facial expressions of your dog, and some of their body language as well. What's more are that the fonts are big, the pictures of dogs in actions are clear and coloured. Many cute pictures of dogs as well.

The ISBN is 0 600 60423 3

So so... how about getting the book from a nearby library and start reading now? Hee hee...
(Ok, I know I'm bad in writing reviews. Hope you know what I'm babbling about. haha)

Annual vaccination

My dad and I walked McMug to the vet today. It was a long and hot walk but McMug enjoyed it. Heh heh, he still didn't know where he was going at that time. Finally we reached the clinic, only to find ourselves waiting for about 20minutes even though we had already made an appointment. But well, sometimes they just can't help something like this to happen. Some pets may have more problems than others and take up more time.

Beside us was a 3 months old Pekinese. He (or is it a she?) just cuddle up in the owner's hands and sleepily looked around him. And then a Maltese quietly sat on the owner's lap waiting fro their turn to go in. Before us was a Shetland sheep dog and I think the whole family was there (2 ladies, 3 gentlemen were there) and all of them went into the vet's room with the dog. O_o The room is so small. I wonder how they managed to squeeze into it. And then there was this poor little rabbit which, I overheard talking to the vet assistant, had not been eating for 1 whole week. The lady owner was crying her nose red, hoping the vet could see the rabbit soon.

Anyway, all these while McMug was behaving as all JRTs do. He was "on the move" all thime while we were waiting for our turn. He sniffed at other dogs, pawed on the glass door (trying to get out of the place) and jumped up and down from my dad's and my lap. And because he wanted to get out and he couldn't if I don't help him, he did all his "Sit", "Down", "Shake" (as in shake hands) tricks obediently. Haha, this time I've got the upper hand. Muahhahahahaha...

Then comes McMug's turn to go in. Actually nothing interesting happened. The vet checked his eyes again (the last time he injurned his eyes slightly) and then his teeth. And finally gave him the injection. How was he like during the injection? He stood on his hind legs, fore legs on my dad's shoulders and then turnhis head around looking at his butt while the vet inject the needle into him. No howling or whining of pain. *Nod head* Brave doggy.

And so, this put an end to "The visit to the vet" episode. Thank you for joining us, tune in for more interesting stories and adventure of McMug. (I'm sure something interesting will bound to happen to him some how.)

McMug little adventure

Ahhhh.... McMug nearly went missing. Ok this is what happened. On Tuesday, a public holiday, I was taking my afternnon nap, Dad was online surfing the net in the study room. Mum came home from outside and somehow McMug slip out. Not noticing the run away dog, Mum locked the door! So after 2 hours of nap (yah, I know that's very long for a nap) I woke up and watch TV(lazy lifestyle haha) Some one rang the door bell and 2 children were outside. They asked if we are looking for our dog.
WHAT! Then I realised my dog is missing! AHHHHHHHHHHH....

We went out with the children and saw a couple playing with McMug. They told us they found McMug wandering in the multistorey carpark and thought the dog must have slipped away from the owner. Fortunately the 2 children knew McMug (among those who played with McMug when we brought him down for his daily walk) and went to our house to tell us.

I can tell you I did not smile when I found McMug. Not that I don't care about him. But the first thing in my mind was "What happened if he got knocked down by car?", then I thought "What kind of owner am I? I didn't even realise my dog was missing after I wake up."

*Sob sob* Sigh. Lucky he's fine, otherwise I'll blame myself for not looking after him well enough.

Haven't been updating on McMug for a loooonnngggg time. So what had him been doing? Well, he took part in Cosplaying. Haha. Here's him trying to be Rodulph. We had to tempt him with dog biscuit before he allowed us to put the reindeer horn on his head. Hee hee. And McMug got a new chewing bone for X'mas. Yeah yeah. Oh, on 7th and 8th of Jan, think there is going to be some kind of pet magazine event at the Youth Park. Can bring your pet along. Not sure if I'm going to bring McMug there cos I need some sort of transportation to bring him there. Some taxi uncles are not so nice to let a dog up on their car you know and forget about public buses and trains. Wah.... I want a car!!!
