To all dogs lovers out there, this is a book that you shouldn't miss. To all non dogs lovers, this is a book that you shouldn't miss too. Hahaha.
I've just finished reading it, and it's a book with great humour and not just plainly about the Lab Retriever, Marley. It also described the author and his wife life as a young couple, new parents and a dog owner. But whatever it is, the parts on Marley are still the best.
As a dog owner, I can see some parts of my life with my dogs reflected in this book in a way that I can feel how John Grogan felt when he went through the ups and downs and the various kind of emotions that he go through while living with this "Loony" dog. The frustrations that we get when our furniture are damaged because of our dogs, the joy that we had when we go for walks and play fetch, the anxiousness that we have to endure when our dogs are sick and the grief for our dogs during the last journey of their life.
The fact is, when you truly have a family dog, the dog is no longer just "a dog". The dog became a part of the family, a son, a sibling, a companion. Who will so loyally sit at the door waiting for your return everyday after you come home from work? Who will receive you everyday with the same enthusiasm?
Yeah, they all have their own little problems or "bad behavior", but don't we human too? They love us for who we are, regardless of our age, race, religion, gender, as long as we give them our love, they give us their all. Love ya McMug. Be a happy, bouncey dog always. Just try to nip less garbage from the side walk when you are out walking. Hee hee...
Oh, btw, just a word of caution. Try not to read the last 2 chapters of Marley and me when you are travelling on public transport, especially so if you have super active tear glands. You wouldn't want to weep infront of so many strangers do you.
